QuikRead C-Reactive Protein Test (CRP)

QuikRead CRP is a quantitative assay of CRP (C-reactive protein) in whole blood or plasma, using the QuikReadŽ 101 Instrument. Measurement of CRP helps to evaluate the acute inflammatory processes induced by infectious microbial agents or non-infectious inflammatory stimuli. QuikRead CRP is not intended for measurement of CRP as a risk marker for coronary heart disease. For in vitro diagnostic use.

QuikRead CRP test is a rapid and accurate portable monitor for the detection of C-reactive protein in whole blood, EDTA-anticoagulated blood, heparin-anticoagulated blood, plasma and blood samples.
  • Finger-stick whole blood sample
  • Accurate and fast
  • Moderately complex

Using a finger-stick whole blood sample, C-reactive protein levels are determined in 5 minutes for prompt and accurate assessment of bacterial infection.

CRP is an acute phase protein present in low concentrations in healthy individuals. Any pathological condition associated with invasive bacterial infection, inflammation or tissue destruction is accompanied by elevation of the CRP level in the patient's blood. The rise in CRP levels is rapid, and increased levels can be detected within 6 to 12 hours of the onset of the inflammatory process.
Quantitative measurement of the CRP concentration has been reported to be a sensitive indicator of the efficacy of antimicrobial therapy and the course of bacterial infections, as well as an effective tool in monitoring and controlling postoperative infections.
